4/2/2023 0 Comments Corel aftershot 2.0I want to get the ultimate results, and ASP 2.0 is lagging behind my current converter of choice - DxO 9.0, as well as RawTherapee which is a long time favorite of mine.īTW, I just tested ASP2 Perfectly Clear Noise Reduction and I can't say I'm impressed. ASP 2.0 claim for fame is performance, but since I'm in no rush it's not a USP I care about. With that said, I'm not going to upgrade. I actually have a licensed copy of ASP 1.2, so with this discount the upgrade cost is reasonable, at $30. In contrast, AfterShot Pro 1.x (which was an evolution of the Bibble Pro software after Bibble Labs was acquired by Corel), has been often criticized for infrequent updates for support of new cameras.īut, so far, it looks like Corel is working hard to make sure the new AfterShot Pro 2.0 release is a much better supported product, with more frequent updates using a new project management team dedicated to making it a more viable solution for more photographers. For example, they've already released several updates to the product since AfterShot Pro 2.0 was launched. So, I'm only pointing out this sale since I use AfterShot Pro and noticed the labor day sale price, and wanted to let any other members here know about it they may be looking for a product that's similar to Lightroom (only *much* faster, especially if you have more CPU cores, as it's speed almost doubles each time you double the available cores and it can also use GPU accelerated raw conversion with a modern video card).Ĭorel appointed a new Project mangement team for their AfterShot Pro project not long ago before the introduction of AfterShot Pro 2.0 and they seem to be actively working on updating it with more cameras and features on a frequent basis. That's a great feature from my perspective, since my computers are setup in multi-boot configuration with both Windows and Linux on them, where I can have AfterShot Pro installed in all of them (without the need to purchase a separate license for each Operating System I use it with), pointing to the same photos and libraries on a shared NTFS partition.Īnyway, I just wanted to point out this labor day deal if anyone is looking for a product similar to Adobe Lightroom (only much faster, with a lot of features that Lightroom doesn't give you). It's also *much* faster than Lightroom, and also allows you to use the same license key with multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, OS X). But, you can use it either way (with our without importing your photos into libraries first). It's got very nice features for DAM (Digital Asset Management) features if you do import files into a library (a.k.a., catalog) first, including a nice features for using metadata (anything from the EXIF data, keywords, ratings, etc.) for custom views of your images. It's got tons of nice features for easily managing your photos (ratings, keywords, etc.) with the ability to use edit regions and layers and also work on photos without importing them into a catalog first (that you don't get with competing products like Adobe Lightroom). But, the basic concepts and features shown in the older version are still applicable to the newer release. It's specific to the older AfterShot Pro 1.x releases, and the newer 2.0 releases have a more refined User Interface. To get a better idea of how it works, I'd watch this old "webinar" (and make sure to use 720P so you can more easily see the screen text). as I'm on the Corel mailing list for promos. If anyone is looking for an extremely fast, full featured image management system that has fast raw conversion and editing features, Corel has AfterShot Pro for 50% off through today (a labor day sale), where you can buy the full version for $39.99 (or upgrade from an older release for $29.99).Īctually, I think the sale started a few days ago, but I forgot to mention it until seeing a new e-mail about the labor day sale price expiring today.
